And as she travels through Hoenn she gets a new friend named Tyler and his sister Julia and the three travel through Hoenn meeting new and different types of Pokémon. This series also introduces the Pokémon Contests, which debuted in Hoenn. Julia, one of Terra's new traveling companions, makes her contest debut at this time, and learns how to be a coordinator and a trainer. The series has an equal balance between the gym battles and contests. The protagonists also become involved in the conflict between Team Magma and Team Aqua and the legendary Pokémon they seek to control.
