Monopoly is a board game invented by Charles Darrow in which the object is to become the richest player by buying properties and then aquiring color groups and then building houses and hotels to increase collected rent. Darrow initially showed the game to Parker Brothers and they rejected the game. He produced the game on his own and sold it on his own. When he could not keep up with demands for the game, Parker Brothers then produced the game. It has become one of the most popular board games in the world and has been translated into many languages with different properties. The first American features streets from Atlantic City, Georgia as properties. The other editions feature local properties. Monopoly is based off of the economic principle of monopoly, which a single company dominates
