George Lane Tunbridge (1889-1964) was a builder and local politician. Born in Paddington, he was the son of Harry Tunbridge and Ann neé Lane. He became a building contractor and a Fellow of the Institute of Builders. From the 1940s he lived in Chelsea, and became an alderman on Chelsea Borough Council. He served two consecutive terms as Mayor of Chelsea in 1947-50. In 1957 he was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
