The Martin one-decker was an American Monoplane that was the first US fighter to use the interrupter gear, based on the German Fokker Eindecker fighters. It replaced the aging Curtiss Super Hudson, and was used for dogfighting and scouting during the Great War. It's appearance allowed the US to dominate the skies of Canada, until the RAF brought over the Sopwith Pup. Horribly outclassed, Martins were shot out of the sky in great numbers. It was later replaced by the Wright two-decker.
