Xerthium was an alloy engineered from melding laminanium and corrinium. It provided greater resistance to vibration yet remained more flexible than laminanium alone when bonded with the corrinium. However corrinium by itself could also bond with fluorine and produce a dangerous chemical: tricorrinium hexafluoride. In order to prevent this, the xerthium mix was tempered for two hours at 3600 degrees standard so to stabilize the corrinium bonds with the laminanium. Xerthium was seen used in shock absorbers for turbolasers and heavy artillery during the Galactic Civil War.
