Woodward then hit a nine-race schedule during the 1958 season, finishing a solid 40th in the year end standings. After finishing 24th during his season opener at Daytona Beach, Woodward was just spectacular. He finished no worse than 16th during the rest of the year, and only had one DNF during the entire season. He hit the top-ten twice, showing 6th at both Wall Stadium and Reading. He also recorded a solid 12th place finish at the historic Old Bridge race track. Woodward stepped it back down to a one-race schedule during the 1959 season, but found no damage done to his talent. For in his only start of the year, Woodward emerged from the twenty-five car Reading field with a career-best 5th place finish. Woodward's final career race, which came in 1961 at Norwood, provided a fitting end for his solid career. Starting 11th in the field of eighteen, Woodward completed all but forty-four laps in the race and wound up with a solid 7th placing showing.
