The Kolasi were a race of hive-minded synthetic lifeforms that resided within the Dark Core of the Otherspace galaxy. Theorized to have originally created as an unstoppable superweapon, perhaps even by the Kathol, the Kolasi were discovered and unwittingly "awakened" by the Charon Dominion over one thousand years after the conclusion of the Oblivion Crusades, and were largely ignored due to their nonliving condition.

abstract
  • The Kolasi were a race of hive-minded synthetic lifeforms that resided within the Dark Core of the Otherspace galaxy. Such negligence eventually proved to have been catastrophic to the Charon, as after only three centuries of activity, the Kolasi numbers rivaled that of the galaxy-spanning Dominion. The Kolasi all possessed singular purpose; consume, then replicate, consume, then replicate. Through the usage of nano-machines, the Kolasi were capable of harvesting virtually any form of matter, such as plastics, metals, plant-life, and organics creatures, to utilize as raw resources for the purpose of replicating their numbers. By 1,130 ABY, the Kolasi began consuming worlds within the Dark Core, and by 1,402 ABY, the inevitable attack on Dominion worlds began, thus starting the nearly seven-hundred-year long conflict, known as the Ghost Wars. By the conclusion of the Ghost Wars, the Kolasi were eventually purged into extinction by the Charon.
