In 1900 PD, Coglin held the rank of Captain and was the commanding officer of PMSS Sirius, a Havenite Q-ship that was assigned to the Manticoran Basilisk System as part of Operation Odysseus. His objective was to keep his ship in orbit of the planet Medusa disguised as a civilian freighter, until the Havenite agents on the surface were ready to provoke a violent uprising of the native population. In response to that, Coglin would then have taken the Sirius away from Basilisk and "luckily" run into a Havenite strike force that would "restore order" on Mesusa and take over the Basilisk System in the process.

  • In 1900 PD, Coglin held the rank of Captain and was the commanding officer of PMSS Sirius, a Havenite Q-ship that was assigned to the Manticoran Basilisk System as part of Operation Odysseus. Coglin had serious doubts about the plan, especially when the Manticorans began to patrol Basilisk in a more organized fashion after the arrival of the light cruiser HMS Fearless, Captain Honor Harrington commanding. The operation was never executed as planned because the Medusans started their attack on the Manticoran government compound early. Around the same time, the crew of the Fearless figured out that the Sirius had a military-grade impeller drive. When Captain Coglin ordered his crew to leave orbit and make for the hyper limit, the Fearless chased after them. In the following First Battle of Basilisk, both ships were heavily damaged; when the wounded Fearless turned away from the fight, Captain Coglin decided to engage her in order to kill potential witnesses. Captain Harrington, however, used her vessel's experimental grav lance to take down the Sirius' electronics and sidewalls. Moments later, Captain Coglin and his remaining crew were killed when the Fearless' energy torpedos destroyed his ship. (HH1)
