When Captain Jean-Luc Picard took the Enterprise to Iconia, Taris shadowed the Federation vessel. Arriving at Iconia, Taris attempted to claim the planet for the Empire, but was rebuffed by Commander William T. Riker. By then, her ship was malfunctioning due to an ancient Iconian program present in the Haakona's computers. Výsadkový tým pod vedením Picarda objevil na povrchu Iconie řídící centrum. To bylo schopné automaticky vypouštět sondy a navíc se v něm nacházela brána, kterou bylo možné se přemisťovat do různých částí vesmíru. Účelem iconianských sond bylo přenášet počítačové programy, které se pak nahrávaly do jiných počítačových systémů. Toto se také stalo málem i lodi IRK Haakana, která opět objevila USS Enterprise-D u planety Iconie. V té době se i na IRW Haakoně začaly objevovat závady a její subkomandérka Taris to považovala za sabotáž Hvězdné flotily. Navíc z povrchu Iconie vylétla další sonda, která směrovala na romulanskou loď. Na pokyn komandéra Rikera se jim podařilo včas sondu zničit. Poté jim posádka Enterprise-D předala pokyny, jak svojí loď vyčistit od nekontabilního software, kterým byla již částečně zamořena, a který způsoboval její neobvyklé závady. Zamoření nežádoucím software nastalo, když si načetla palubní deníky lodi USS Yamato, ve kterých byly zaneseny tyto iconianské počítačové programy. Aby se objevená technika nedostala do rukou Romulanů, rozhodl se kapitán Picard iconianské řídící centrum, jím spuštěnou autodestrukcí, zničit. Pro návrat na Enterprise-D využil schopností brány. The Enterprise was able to locate and beam Picard off the Romulan ship. The Enterprise crew instructed the Romulan crew how to purge the Iconian program from the Haakona and save their lives. (TNG episode: "Contagion"; WizKids module: Tactics) The Romulans would later harness the Iconian Virus, and the crew of the Haakona would use it in battle when the ship took serious damage. (WizKids module: Tactics) In 2368, when the Devil's Heart resurfaced, the Praetor sent the Haakona to recover the Heart for the Empire. Taris destroyed a smuggler's hideout and Starbase 193 while searching for the Heart. One of the crew who was a follower of Ambassador Spock then decided that the Empire should never have possession of the Heart again, and he sabotaged the Haakona. This sabotage caused a section of the Haakona's shields to drop during battle with the Enterprise. Lieutenant Worf was able to fire phasers through the hole created in the shields, destroying the Haakona and killing her crew.
