Ted Ruth (born February 14, 1989 in Naperville, Illinois) is an American defenceman playing for the Columbus Blue Jackets. He played for the USA Hockey National Team Development Program from 2005 to 2007 and then played for Notre Dame University for three years. The Washington Capitals chose Ruth 46th overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft but traded him, on February 26, 2008, to the Blue Jackets for Sergei Fedorov. Columbus signed Ruth to an entry-level contract on April 12, 2010, as he opted to forego his last year of university.
