The Wellsworth and Suddery Railway is one of the original 3 standard gauge railways on Sodor. It was built in 1870 and originally ran from Crosby to Brendam with stations at Wellsworth and Suddery. In 1912, the line was extended to Knapford to amalgate with the Tidmouth, Knapford and Elsbridge Railway forming the Tidmouth, Wellsworth and Suddery Railway which, in 1914, joined with the Sodor and Mainland Railway to form the North Western Railway. The eastern end of the line became a branch line of the North Western Railway and later came to be known as Edward's Branch Line. The line was run by tank engines.
