In the aftermath of the disintegration of the USA in the 1820s, two new countries (the CSS and the FRA) considered themselves its true successor state. The major sticking point between the two countries was the ownership of the Missouri territory. While the FRA had troops loyal to itself already in the territory, the government was incapable of sending reinforcement due to a lack of land bridge as the CSS army launch an all out attack. The war ended with a victory for the CSS who quickly integrated the territory as states.
