| - Mortimer Everett was a lonely boy as a child. He had few friends, and was mostly ignored by everyone. He was also bullied since his skin was turning red and crusty, a sign of his mutant power to come. Soon he was enlisted to join the Navy. On a mission, he fell overboard, and was abandoned. Upon touching a barnacle, his powers took full effect, and he developed an armor made of barnacle crust. This kept him afloat until he found a small secluded island where he was washed ashore.
There he was ignored even by the natives once he was healed. He was able to find just enough food to survive, and when he couldn’t, he could use his barnacle armor to survive only on water. But luckily, he was found by the mutant Magneto. He informed him that he was a mutant, and that he needed his help. Overjoyed to see another human that cared about him, Mortimer cut him off, and joined into the X-Men. He decided to use a costume replicating his Navy uniform and his favorite bathing suit. He was able to protect the water on Krakoa, and soon exercised his powers to their full potential. Afterwards, he stated he’d be an X-Man to the death.
