  • Just before beginning of the First Havenite-Manticoran War, Admiral Coatsworth was appointed the commanding officer of the task group destinated to support Admiral Rollins' Task Force based in the Seaford Nine System. When the war began, Admiral Coatsworth led his forces to the Hancock System, which was under the control of Manticoran Alliance forces, while he was expecting to find Admiral Rollins in possession. Upon meeting a Manticoran Task Force Hancock, Coatsworth got most of his ships out of the system. His lead squadrons, however, took a terrible pounding, and without Seaford Nine's orbital repair facilities he was forced to retreat all the way back to the Barnett System with his damaged units. His courier boats were able to report the news of the military disaster to Haven just before President Harris' assassination. (HH3)
