McClaren Youth Hall (correctly spelled MacLaren), located in El Monte, Los Angeles County, was a residential facility for children who had been removed from their homes for various reasons. It was something like a cross between a group foster home, a juvenile hall, and a mental hospital. It was a controversial institution with a checkered history. It should not be confused with a facility similarly named but located in Woodburn, Oregon. Several of the children taken in by the Blaylock foster family had spent time at MacLaren, as did Robert Foxworth.

He was there when he was told that his mother had died. He ran away from MacLaren several times and does not have many positive memories of living there.
