It should not be confused with a facility similarly named but located in Woodburn, Oregon. He was there when he was told that his mother had died. He ran away from MacLaren several times and does not have many positive memories of living there. Several of the children taken in by the Blaylock foster family had spent time at MacLaren, as did Robert Foxworth.
