Faction spy is a variation of spying where the actor targets a player and learns that player's (current) faction. It is regarded as a less effective variation of the role spy since it will not narrow down a player's role and faction directly. It is also less likely to provide indirect information about the target's role, even given a lot of information shown in the night post. It is most commonly used to determine the current allegiance of Indy roles that can be recruited to factions.
