Bristol Rovers' relegation to League Two was made almost inevitable by this 1–1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday, thanks to wins by fellow strugglers Walsall and Dagenham & Redbridge. Although not a mathematical certainty at this point, they sat three points from safety with a goal difference that was 16 goals behind that of The Saddlers with one game to go, meaning that it would take a miracle to save The Gas from the drop. As things transpired the miracle didn't appear and Rovers' relegation was confirmed the following week.

| - Bristol Rovers' relegation to League Two was made almost inevitable by this 1–1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday, thanks to wins by fellow strugglers Walsall and Dagenham & Redbridge. This game was settled by two penalties early in the first half, Tommy Miller scoring first from the spot after just 3 minutes following a foul on Gary Madine by Danny Coles, before Will Hoskins levelled things up in similar fashion 9 minutes later when Wayne Brown was brought down by Lewis Buxton. Former Rovers loanee Daniel Jones was on the bench for Wednesday, but didn't make it on to the field during the game.
