Leonid Egorov is the youngest child of former Premier Nicholas Egorov, and grandson of former Premier Dimitri Egorov. The Egorov family has been influential in Communist party politics since the 2030s. When Nicholas announced his retirement from the J Andres Commune, of which he lead the Communist party for a period of 26 years, his son announced his intentions to lead the party. His ascension to the leader of the Communist party coincided with the collapse of the Anchor party, resulting in the Communists being able to put together a coalition government with the Labor party.
