Ziril Tarridax was a Human male tank commander in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars, before defecting to the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Known throughout the Republic military as a skilled tank tactician, he developed new tactics for the Republic. However, in the first year of the conflict, he defected to the Separatists and became a high ranking officer in a unit of defectors called the Republic Liberation Army. He was promoted to colonel by the commanding officer, General Alix Balan.

Known throughout the Republic military as a skilled tank tactician, he developed new tactics for the Republic. However, in the first year of the conflict, he defected to the Separatists and became a high ranking officer in a unit of defectors called the Republic Liberation Army. He was promoted to colonel by the commanding officer, General Alix Balan. During the conflict, he served with distinction. The RLA scored many victories against the Republic, and he developed new tactics for the Ground Armored Tank, which was perviously disliked by the Separatist command. In 19 BBY, after the Separatist defeat, Tarridax became part of Balan's new transitional government, the Committee for Liberation of the Republic, as he planned on setting up a "new Republic". However, Balan and Tarridax were both killed by the Imperial Army not too long afterwards.
