Tinkle and Tod was Jack Snow's first attempt at an extended work of fiction. Written in 1942, the work consists of four stories, each divided into six chapters. The book's heroine is a little farm girl nicknamed Tinkle; her best friend Tod lives next door. General resemblances with Twinkle and Chubbins in The Twinkle Tales and the children in Dot and Tot of Merryland are readily apparent. Snow employed very similar names when he created his twins Twink and Tom in The Shaggy Man of Oz (1949).
