Due to a heavy push by mayors and citizens of the West Island, a plan to extend the Blue Line of the Montreal Metro towards the west is being proposed. The line would add another ten stops from the current terminus at Snowdon until Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport which would become the new western terminus of the blue line. Five stops would be located underground (like the current metro system) while five others would be built above ground parallel to highway 20. The airport stop, which would be known as Aéroport-Trudeau, would be located underground.

  • Due to a heavy push by mayors and citizens of the West Island, a plan to extend the Blue Line of the Montreal Metro towards the west is being proposed. The airport stop, which would be known as Aéroport-Trudeau, would be located underground. If this plan comes to fruition, the blue line would have to be upgraded to the capacity it was meant to serve, as the airport stop would most likely become one of the busiest in the network. Snowdon metro station would also have to be upgraded to handle higher passenger numbers for people looking to switch to the orange line in order to head downtown. The proposal is currently in the beginning stages.
