Elsdon is the suburb just north-west of Porirua City Centre. Named after writer Elsdon Best, it has industry in its southern half (where the main streets are Heriot Drive, Prosser Street, and Raiha Street), Elsdon Park and Mana College in the low-lying north-east near the Porirua Harbour, and residential land in the higher remainder. Before the council clarified suburb boundaries, Elsdon included Takapuwahia. In the blurbs of some real estate agents, it still does.
