Willpower is a primary attribute that is imperative to spellcasting. It is a factor in determining the chance of success when casting spells from all schools of magic, even those that are not governed by this attribute. Willpower contributes to one's natural ability to resist magic, including effects without a magnitude such as Paralyze that are not affected by Resist Magicka. Willpower is also one of four components that are summed to determine maximum Fatigue. Increasing maximum Fatigue allows a character to effectively engage in strenuous activities such as running, fighting, and spellcasting for longer periods of time. Unlike Morrowind's successors, Willpower does not influence Magicka regeneration, as Magicka is only recovered while resting or through the use of potions.
