The New American Bible (NAB) is a Catholic Bible translation first published in 1970. It had its beginnings in the Confraternity Bible, which began in the 1950s as a revision of the Douay-Rheims Bible. It was specifically translated into English by the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine under the liturgical principles and reforms of the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965).
