  • In his role as a researcher on Star Trek, Gerace underwent such tasks as writing a detailed report on Romulan mythology. He also watched each episode of Star Trek: The Original Series and all of the Star Trek films, taking notes on personal histories and personality nuances. (Production notes at StarTrekMovie.com) Gerace has worked with Star Trek director and producer J.J. Abrams and writers/executive producers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman on a few previous projects. Gerace wrote an episode of Abrams' spy series, Alias, on which Orci and Kurtzman were co-executive producers. Gerace was later the assistant to Abrams on the 2006 film Mission: Impossible III, which was co-written by Orci and Kurtzman.
