Joseph James Reekie (born February 22, 1965 in Victoria, British Columbia) is a retired Canadian ice hockey defenceman. A stay-at-home defenceman renowned for his defensive skills, Reekie was originally drafted in 1983 by the Hartford Whalers; however, he never signed with the team and re-entered the NHL draft two years later where he was drafted this time by the Buffalo Sabres. Reekie played for the Sabres, New York Islanders, Tampa Bay Lightning, Washington Capitals, and Chicago Blackhawks. In all, Reekie played 902 NHL games, scoring 25 goals and 139 assists.

A stay-at-home defenceman renowned for his defensive skills, Reekie was originally drafted in 1983 by the Hartford Whalers; however, he never signed with the team and re-entered the NHL draft two years later where he was drafted this time by the Buffalo Sabres. Reekie played for the Sabres, New York Islanders, Tampa Bay Lightning, Washington Capitals, and Chicago Blackhawks. Until 1992, he spent more time in the minors than in the NHL. Chosen by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 1992 NHL Expansion Draft, he became a regular with the new team. He never saw the minors again. He was traded to the Washington Capitals in 1994 and stayed there for over eight seasons. Reekie played one season for the Chicago Blackhawks in 2001-02 before retiring. In all, Reekie played 902 NHL games, scoring 25 goals and 139 assists. After retiring from active professional play, Reekie became a post-game analyst for the Capitals on Comcast SportsNet.
