In 3004, a group of Catholics on La Terre appointed a new Pope, designated John Paul XV, and he is gaining a strong following amongst remaining Catholics. The number of practioners and support for the new Pope grew in part out of the uncertainty of the Birthright War. One of the reasons being due to the unique 're-incarnation' of La Terre and her citizens called into question as to whether or not those resurrected had the souls of the original population. It remains a point of contention within religious circles. It should be noted the new Pope although based on La Terre, is a human immigrant from Earth and not one of those brought back from the dead by the Il'Ri'Kamm Hive Mind.
