The Forty Fathom Freedom Fighters are a group that appear in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. They are a group of aquatic Freedom Fighters aiming to keep the seas clean from the tyranny of Dr. Ivo Robotnik and later Dr. Eggman. The group was first discovered by Knothole Freedom Fighter agent Miles "Tails" Prower while he went on his mission to Downunda. The FFFF's have faced off against Octobot on numerous occasions and were later responsible for stopping the misfit Badniks from turning Pseudo-Sonic into an ultimate weapon.

- When Tails was captured by Octobot, the robot nearly drowned him. However, the Forty Fathom Freedom Fighters managed to arrive just in time to save Tails' life and force Octobot to flee. From there, Big Fluke brought Tails to the continent of Downunda as his Sea Fox submarine was damaged by Octobot.
