The RAC Man was an unnamed character who stood at a country crossroads and who upon request directed the taxi containing Annie Walker towards the Brookside Motel which Annie was due to open in her (much sought for) capacity of representing the Licenced Victualler's Association. A few moments later he mistook the mayoral Rolls Royce, driven by Billy Walker and containing Irma Barlow, Elsie Howard and Alan Howard, for part of the official party and quickly directed them on down the same road towards the motel. By the time they reached the building they were waved into the car park and greeted with flowers and an official welcome, much to their embarrassment.
