He played junior hockey for the Edmonton Athletic Club in 1934-35 and then senior hockey for the Coleman Canadians (1935–1937) and Wright-Haregreaves in Northern Ontario in the 1937-38 season. In 1938-39 Fisher turned pro with the Pittsburgh Hornets. In the next four seasons, he split the years between the Indianapolis Capitals and the NHL's Detroit Red Wings. In the NHL he played in a total of 65 games and scored 8 goals and 12 assists. In 1950-51 Fisher was the coach of the junior Medicine Hat Tigers.
