Two teams from Alberta (Edmonton & Calgary) and three from Saskatchewan (Regina, Saskatoon, and Yorkton) banded together to form this league. Attendance and interest were very low. In January the Calgary Stampeders folded after returning from a tour of Europe. The four remaining teams finished in the following order: 1. * Edmonton 2. * Saskatoon 3. * Yorkton 4. * Regina The Edmonton Monarchs split off from the league, entering the 1971-72 Western Canada Allan Cup Playoffs as the representative of Alberta. Yorkton and Regina were playing off for the right to meet Saskatoon in a final to determine the Saskatchewan representative. Just before the playoffs were to start the Saskatoon Quakers withdrew from the league. THe Regina-Yorkton series became the final for Saskatchewan. The league was not ressurected the next season.
