The National Fire Service (NFS) was created during World War II from the Auxiliary Fire Service (AFS) and the local Fire Brigades. It was mainly staffed by part time civilian volunteers. A number of vehicles from the service survive in preservation and are exhibited and sometimes demonstrated at vintage vehicle events and other shows in the UK.
