Garthak Thunderfist was the founder and first leader of the Thunderfist Warband. A rather powerful and wise orc shaman, Garthak ruled his people with fairness in mind for all of his people. Much of his leadership has been lost in history, but some surviving orcs that knew him, such as his successor, Aknug Stormrider, would be able to tell of his good deeds. Unfortunately, this kindness in his heart often let the other members of the warband take advantage of Garthak, and he was perhaps even loved by some for the wrong reasons.
