The Mughal Empire (Persian: سلطان مغول, Urdu: مغلیہ سلطنت), was an empire extending over large parts of South Asia and was ruled by a dynasty of Turkic origin. They ruled parts of South Asia twice, first from 1526 to 1799, then a short lived period after the Indian Rebellion, from 1858 to 1859, where they ruled the modern day Agra & Awadh.
