- The Swiss Family Robinson is a novel that was first published in 1812 about a Swiss family who are shipwrecked in route to Australia. Originally written by pastor Johann David Wyss, the novel was written as a teaching tool for children, but it followed in the format of another popular novel, Robinson Crusoe. The German translation of the title, Der Schweizerische Robinson, is "The Swiss Robinson", implying a Swiss version of Robinson Crusoe, rather then a Swiss family named Robinson.
- The Swiss Family Robinson was a television series produced in the United States that aired during the 1975-76 season. It was based upon the novel "The Swiss Family Robinson" written by Johann David Wyss, and was produced by Irwin Allen, who had earlier produced a futuristic adaptation of the same novel called "Lost in Space". The series was directed by Leslie H. Martinson, with second unit director Stan Jolley. Story editing was by William Welch, cinematography by Fred Jackman Jr., original music by Richard LaSalle.
- Swiss Family Robinson is a 1960 Buena Vista Distribution feature film starring John Mills, Dorothy McGuire, and Sessue Hayakawa in a tale of a shipwrecked family building an island home. The screenplay by Lowell S. Hawley was loosely based upon the 1812 novel Der Schweizerische Robinson (literally, The Swiss Robinson) by Johann David Wyss. The film was directed by Ken Annakin and shot in Tobago and Pinewood Studios outside London. It was the second feature film version of the story (the first film version was released by RKO in 1940) and was a commercial success.

It was one of the rare widescreen Disney films shot with Panavision lenses. When shooting in widescreen, Disney had nearly always used a matted widescreen or filmed it in Cinemascope.

The series starred Martin Milner (formerly of Adam-12) as shipwrecked Carl Robinson. Helen Hunt co-stars as one of his daughters, making one of her first acting performances.
The book, and its many adaptations in both print and on screen, were the inspiration for the television series Lost in Space. The story was spoofed in The Sesame Street Storytime Calendar 1982. Professor Hastings is cast against type as the father (clad like the rest of his family in a Tarzan loincloth), and the family includes two daughters (Prairie Dawn and Betty Lou) and a son, rather than the three boys in the novel.
