The Infernal-class corvette was a military transport freighter, originally designed to ferry troops and material from world to world and base to base. The Infernal-class was later retrofitted as a dedicated special operations support vessel and military warship. By the time of the Treaty of Anaxes, Infernals had become popularly associated with the Fel Empire of Roan Fel, as they were utilized mostly by these legendary white-armor clad warriors and intelligence agents as combat transports. The vessels also excelled as escorts and heavy assault craft, especially against Star Destroyers, where their incredible speed and maneuverability allowed them to avoid most defensive fire.

The Infernal corvette was utilized to great effect by the New Imperial Order of the Fel Dynasty , who famously used the ships on many worlds to quietly and quickly infiltrate planetary defenses for various missions, from sabotage and surgical strikes to assassination and other clandestine operations. As they were most commonly used by the Imperial Security Bureau, the Infernals gained the nickname of Commando Corvettes by the Galactic Federation of Free Alliance, Hutt Cartel, and Black Sun forces.
