  • A dimension (also called a plane, world, realm or universe) is a self-contained universe. Together all dimensions constitute the multiverse.
  • Dimensions and pocket universes are the parallel universes and dimensions of the Multiverse.
  • A dimension is an independent quantity which is used to describe an object. In a given mathematical space, there is a minimum number of dimensions required to completely describe an object's location and/or size. For example, a three dimensional object such as a sphere can be described with many different coordinate systems, but each system requires three values (rectangular coordinates being x-y-z, cylindrical r-theta-z, and spherical rho-phi-theta). In some contexts, the term "dimension" is used to describe a realm of existence within which our universe is located.
  • A dimension, sometimes also referred to as a plane (PROSE: Twilight of the Gods, TV: Time Heist) and once as a "time-space", (TV: The Greatest Show in the Galaxy) was a property of space, extending in a given direction, which, when combined with other dimensions of width and height and time, made up the universe.
  • Dimension ist ein sprachlicher Begriff, welcher entweder ein grundlegendes physikalisches Konzept oder einen Ort außerhalb von Raum und Zeit bezeichnet.
  • See Dimensions.
  • "Sugar you gone and did the dumbest thing your whole life" - Becky to Quicksilver "Oh sweetheart I don't do uniforms" - Becky to Professor X
  • Dimension is a 1971 pinball machine produced by Gottlieb.
  • A dimension is a domain of space and time. The Luminary's species used the fifth dimension to make their ship bigger on the inside than the outside. ("Invaders from the Fifth Dimension") The People of the Green Mist lived in the Green Dimension. ("The Girl from the Green Dimension")
  • Dimensions are different parallel universes (alternate realities). Roger Wilco is said to have travelled across space and time and to every dimension, this included the one containing the Wizard's Institute of Technocery.
  • Dimension är ett område för grundläggande fysik och matematik och en dimension beskrivs som en av de tre grundläggande riktningar som en person kan resa från specifik punkt. Nämligen som: höjd, bredd och längd.
  • See also In general, dimensions are defined by the number of coordinates needed to isolate any point within an object. Thus for example, a line is one-dimensional (length), a circle two-dimensional (length, width), and a cube three-dimensional (length, width, height). These are known as spatial dimensions and are the most common points of reference in terms of the understanding of dimensions and the basis of what is commonly known as a three-dimensional world.
  • The Dimension Theory stated that for every decision made, the alternative was played out in another dimension. (RD: Dimension Jump) This could be seen as a fifth dimension or co-existing reality, where objects shared the same space but were unaware of each other's presence. Arnold Rimmer suggested that it sounded like his parents in bed. (RD: Parallel Universe) Dimensions were synomonous with parallel universes or alternative realities, although it is unknown whether the seven main universes at the Omnizone counted as such. Several methods have been seen for crossing dimensions.
  • The official scientific definition of a Dimension is an axis of movement, such as height, length, and width. For example, a point is 0-dimensional, a line is 1-dimensional, a plane is 2-dimensional, a cube is 3-dimensional, etc. Time is generally considered to be the fourth dimension. According to M-theory our multiverse is composed of 11 dimensions. According to Bosonic string theory there are 26 of them. And there are an infinite amount of dimensions within a Hilbert space.
  • Dimension refers to a quality of measurement, specifically how many coordinates are required to locate something at a specific place in space. Normal locations require three dimensions to be defined, in addition to the requirement of knowing at what point in time a given location is being observed. Scientific theory and mathematics have posited additional dimensions which exist as extensions of the space-time continuum, with additional parameters of measuring those dimensions that do not exist in the universe, giving them qualities of separate universes.
  • In the Sluggy multiverse, there is an infinite number of alternate realities, referred to as dimensions. These presumably include every possible configuration of affairs, and as such range from slightly different alternate versions of each other to completely bizarre alternate versions of each other and totally unrelated worlds. "Dimensional fluxes" and gateways of different sorts are rare but exist, allowing travel between different realities. The Dimensional Flux Agitator allows creation of these on purpose, though without coordinates it just pokes a hole in reality at random.
  • In the game of Dungeon Dice Monsters, unfolding a die on the field is called a Dimension. Dimensioned dice are called Dungeon Pieces, and they form the Dungeon Paths that will allow your monsters to reach your opponent's Monster Lord. Each time that you roll 2 Summon Crests of the same Level, you can dimension 1 of your dice that shares the same Level and Type of at least 1 of the rolled Summon Crests. Each time that you dimension a die successfully, you must Summon a monster or an Item of the appropriate Level and Type to the newly formed Dungeon Piece.
  • In linear algebra, dimension is a quantity ascribed to vector spaces. Specifically, it is the cardinality of any basis (a linearly independent and spanning set) of the space. Since the cardinality remains invariant under choice of basis of a given vector space, this quantity is well-defined. In topology, dimension may refer to any of several intrinsic properties ascribed to objects. Informally, dimension may be thought of as the minimum number of real-valued coordinates necessary to specify a particular point in a given space.
  • A dimension is a degree of freedom in which position can vary. Each degree of freedom can be indexed by a single variable, which means that the dimensionality of a space is the number of coordinates needed to specify a point in that space. For example, a solid cube requires an x, y and z coordinate to define a position within, so it is three-dimensional.

  • In the field of basic physics, a dimension is described as one of the three basic directions an individual can travel from a specific point, namely: height, width, and length, with the fourth dimension being time (TNG: "Where Silence Has Lease" ). These four dimensions make up the realm of space. Or, "space-time", as scientists have come to refer this dimensional existence. ( TNG: "Tapestry" , ENT: "Storm Front") The planet Meridian has a dual existence, appearing in both the Gamma Quadrant of our universe, and another dimension that intersects with this one at that point. (DS9: "Meridian")
  • Classical physics has theorized that there are three physical dimensions. These dimensions have been made apparent in the movement of an object from a particular point in space, those being up/down, left/right and forward/backward.
  • Dimension was a sphere of metaphysical law within Nosgoth, and one of the nine magical principles harnessed and governed by the Pillars of Nosgoth. Alongside its sister principle, the Mind, it was associated with the elemental force of Air, which, in turn, was aligned with the overarching principle of Light.
