The Battle of Malastare took place between Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems in the year 21 BBY on the home planet of the Dugs, Malastare. When the droids invaded Malastare, the natives species, Dugs, called the Republic for help. When the Republic came, they agreed to assist the Dugs in exchange for access to the planet's fuel resources. When Palpatine gave authorization to launch a prototype Electro-Proton Bomb in order to turn the tide, it deactivated all the Battle Droids, but also caused a sinkhole in the ground the engulfed many of the troopers and awakened an ancient Zillo Beast, which the Republic captured for studies.
