Taylor played junior hockey for the Toronto Canoe Club from 1924 to 1926. He turned pro with the Chicago Cardinals in 1926-27. He played parts of the 1927-28 and 1928-29 seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks. In 1929-30 he started out with the Hawks and then was claimed on waivers by the New York Rangers in mid-season. In 99 NHL games he scored 4 goals and 1 assist. He then played almost all of the rest of his career in the American Hockey Association. In 1933-34 he was the playing-coach of the Tulsa Oilers. He retired in 1939. Taylor was the coach of the St. Louis Flyers in 1945-46.
