An orbital nuclear warhead platform was a device used during Earth's Cold War in the late 1960s. The United States of America launched such a platform in 1968 as a counter to a launch of a similar device by a consortium of other major political entities. (TOS: "Assignment: Earth") While the American platform was launched from McKinley Rocket Base, sabotage by newly-arrived agent Gary Seven resulted in the platform's detonation in orbit.

  • An orbital nuclear warhead platform was a device used during Earth's Cold War in the late 1960s. The platform was codenamed Prometheus One and its superstructure was based on the United States Air Force’s Manned Orbiting Laboratory (MOL) project. (Star Trek: Shadowstar Station) The platform had no canon name. The idea that its superstructure was based on the Manned Orbiting Laboratory (MOL) project was derived from the stock footage being taken from a Gemini launch. As seen in plans, the MOL used some technology derived from then-extant technology developed for Gemini.
