Kakanas is the General of the Numara army. He disagrees with Queen Ming's pacifist policies, and regards her as merely a figurehead. He prepares Numara's army for war against Uhra despite the Queen's protests. He takes over control of Numara after the Queen joins the main party. When the main party return, Kakanas unexpectedly welcomes the Queen back, but later attacks her palace. To atone for his sins, Maya, Ming's lady in waiting, places him on the construction committee to rebuild the palace that he had attempted to destroy. It is implied that Kakanas was dismissed from his military career and could be currently serving a judicial sentence that was handed down to him.
