Dengue fever is also known as break-bone fever due to the bone pain caused by the disease. It is caused by a mosquito borne virus, and is usually not lethal. However, Dengue hemorrhagic fever, which is caused by the same virus, can cause a patient to go into shock. Fifty percent of those patients will die.
