His writing credits include Mackenzie's Raiders, Laramie (13 episodes), 77 Sunset Strip, Gunsmoke (85 episodes as story consultant or executive story consultant), The Streets of San Francisco, The Dukes of Hazzard, The Yellow Rose, T.J. Hooker and Murder, She Wrote. Savage wrote an unfilmed story for the 1974 Planet of the Apes TV series, titled "The Mine".
