The Merquise Syndicate was a criminal organization on Nar Shaddaa in the Legacy Era. Begun by the enterprising Zeltron gunrunner Ara Merquise, it took an inexplicably strong hold on the Smuggler's Moon in 137 ABY. This was later revealed to be due to the influence of the Sith Lord Vegal Ein. Following her rebellion against Vegal, Ara continued to lead the organization with assistance from her majordomo, Tak Sakaros, until her death in 138 ABY. Sakaros himself subsequently became boss of the Syndicate, ruling for a year and instituting many changes in the organization's structure until he was killed in a duel with the Sith Lord Gav Daragon. Ventresca Tan succeeded Tak as boss.
