The Landlady was the wife of the Landlord of an unnamed pub on the shores of Lake Windermere where a coach trip of Street residents stopped part-way through their day trip to the Lake District. The party had a whip-round organised by Albert Tatlock and drinks, followed by a sing-song. The landlady experienced Albert's unique sense of generosity when the round came to £2, 3/4 and he gave her £2, 4/- telling her to keep the change (three and one-third pence in decimal money).
