After it was discovered that the Klingons have beamed down to the Planet of the Apes, he was put in charge of the ship until Kirk and his away team returns. However not too long after, he was alerted that Taylor had snuck aboard the Enterprise. Soon after Taylor had decided to help Kirk and his crew stop General Marius, Scotty beamed down to the Planet of the Apes himself. He spoke with Cornelius and it was Scotty who unintentionally gave Cornelius the idea for he, Zira and their colleague, Milo to go back in time to the twentieth century.

Scotty was born in Scotland in 2222, the son of Montgomery Sr. and Arlyne Scott. He was the brother of Robert and Clara. He would eventually become the Uncle of Dannan and Peter. Being the eldest of an eldest son, he would come to inherit the family round shield and broadsword. In addition to his engineering skills Scotty was also a qualified command officer who was called to command the ship when Kirk or Spock were away.
