Elikaln is the Stofonian Language word that is translated as "Empire" when discussing the Stofonian Empire. It has no etymology in Stofonian. It is a loanword borrowed from Elockan, the name of the Elosian Empire. See the Elockan article for discussion about the origins of that word. Immediately after the fall of Elos, Rostof I declared the Elikaln. This was done to show that the Stofonians had now replaced the Elosians as the dominant power.

In Rostofialism, Elikaln means a universal empire, ruling all of Ristkon. The empire was (and is) the legitimate ruler of the entire planet, by divine right, even if the Stofonians were never actually able to enforce this right militarily.
