Brian Hibbard (25th November 1946 - 17th June 2012) was born in Ebbw Vale, Gwent and first found fame as the founding member of the Flying Pickets, a group of actors who left John McGrath's 7:84 theatre group to woo audiences with their a cappella singing. The group had a number one hit in 1983 with their first single - a cover version of Yazoo's "Only You", which topped the charts for five weeks and won the coverted Christmas number one slot that year. In Coronation Street he played businessman-turned-mechanic Doug Murray between 1992 and 1993.
