The IRS Scandal is an ongoing political scandal in the United States. Employees in the Cincinnati office of the IRS noticed a large increase in the number of filings for non-profit status by organizations just prior to the 2012 election. The IRS investigated, and noticed a high proportion of organizations with political sounding names had filed for non-political non-profit status. • The IRS Scandal is an ongoing political scandal in the United States. Employees in the Cincinnati office of the IRS noticed a large increase in the number of filings for non-profit status by organizations just prior to the 2012 election. The IRS investigated, and noticed a high proportion of organizations with political sounding names had filed for non-political non-profit status. Now, coincidentally, this was a time when a new conservative political group was organizing. It seems that the IRS did not do it due diligence in maintaining impartiality. This has resulted in a political scandal in which conservative criminals may have been the victims of illegal "profiling". This may be the first case in the where the Conservatives were "profiled" rather than being the "profilers". As of this date, the scandal has been pretty well presented as a political "witch hunt" rather than a consistent pattern of Conservative criminality. We'll see how the whole thing plays out. Conservative organizations are working diligently to ensure due process and a strict adherence to non-partisanship in hope that the prosecutions can be avoided until after the next general election.
