Billy Lee Tipton (born as Dorothy Lucille Tipton, December 29, 1914 - January 21, 1989) was an American jazz pianist and saxophonist. Tipton became the subject of public interest posthumously when it was revealed that Tipton, who had lived for decades as a man, was biologically female.
